What is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup (PMU), also known as cosmetic tattoo, is a type of body tattoo designed to mimic makeup, hair, and scar camouflage.

A digital or electrical machine and a nanoneedle are used to implant pigment into the skin, specifically in the dermis, the second layer of the skin. Permanent makeup uses advanced developed pigments for the face, with the best of the before components and

s to achieve natural and bright results. Artistic knowledge and experience are essential to achieve great results. Unlike body tattooing, permanent makeup is performed with a less powerful machine due to the delicacy of the facial skin.

Nowadays, we can find a variety of techniques designed to enhance facial features. Every day, the PMU advances further to fulfill the high expectations. Among the most requested services, you can find Nano Strokes Brows, which has quickly become a popular alternative to microblading. This pointing technique creates tiny lines, resembling hairs, to give the appearance of fullness and volume with a hyperreal effect. If you're looking for a natural way to rebuild or give better shape to your brows, this is the technique.

Next, we have the Powder Brows, a pointing technique that creates a powder or pencil effect, which can be soft or dense, to achieve dramatic brows known as Ombre Brows. This technique is ideal for makeup lovers, with a smooth version that is particularly suitable for mature skin.

The Lip Blush is another permanent makeup service. With this technique, we restore the shape and soft color to the lips, making them look full and healthy. Eyeliner, as the name suggests, we create different broad lines through the lashes, helping the eyes to look more open and younger.

Scars camouflage combines different techniques to cover up scars that have been present for more than a year.

The PMU is helpful for individuals who have lost the ability to apply their makeup with precision, for those with allergies to regular makeup, for active individuals who easily lose their makeup, for people with medical conditions that cause hair loss, and for those with uneven or sparse brows.

Why doesn't my permanent makeup last?

For permanent makeup (PMU) to be retained in the skin, the following pre-treatment recommendations, medical conditions, medications, exfoliations, aftercare, the skin type, and last but not least, the lifestyle. All of them will be crucial to pigment retention and the overall result. Here, I discuss each one so that you can consider it before undergoing any permanent makeup.

          Medical Conditions

There are medical conditions, such as diabetes or autoimmune diseases, for which it is not advisable to do a PMU; however, well-controlled diabetes will not be an obstacle to obtaining good results. In the case of autoimmune diseases, the situation is different. Although the technology of pigments is very advanced, the possibility of the body reacting against this foreign body in these cases is very possible, and it’d be better not to take the risk. In the case of patients with cancer or receiving chemotherapy or radiotherapy, it is vital to have the approval of the doctor, since the immune system could be suppressed; permanent makeup consists of introducing pigments under the skin, which is a micro wound that will need the body to be in the best conditions for a good heal, this avoids infections, allergies or complications that in everyday situations would not occur.

          Drugs or medicines

Some treatments can also interfere with pigment retention, such as antibiotics, kidney treatments, or increased urine discharge. Oily vitamins also interfere, as they either reject the pigment or mix with it (depending on the base that contains the pigment), resulting in poor results.

          Exfoliation

Chemical treatments on the skin should be avoided, depending on their strength, from a month before to a year after, in the case of acne treatments. These treatments remove the skin layer from the face, so when performing a PMU, we will be depositing the pigment in deeper layers, resulting in dark or ashy tones, as well as high sensitivity due to the chemical attack.

          Skin Type

Most skin types are ideal for microblading, but there are exceptions. Oily skin wouldn’t be good for microblading, as it repels the ink. For these skin types, techniques that favor them include Powder Brows and Nano Strokes, both of which are performed using an electric machine. Skin with constant peeling or flaking, with active acne, warts, psoriasis, or just in any altered state, won’t favor the retention of the pigment.

          The aftercare

It is essential to follow the after-care instructions provided by your artist. The work area should be cleaned with wet wipes for the first 24 hours. To achieve the best results, avoid water, sweat, steam, and direct sunlight for 7 days.

          Lifestyle

If you exercise frequently or spend a lot of time in the sun, this can shorten the lifespan of your permanent makeup, as sweat and tanned skin peeling can cause the pigment to be eliminated more quickly than usual. In these cases, the use of sunscreen will be indicated. For individuals who sweat excessively, more frequent pigment touch-ups are recommended, every 10-12 months.

What is more natural look than microblading?

The nano strokes permanent makeup technique is often considered to look more natural than microblading for several reasons:

          Precision and Detail:

Nano strokes involve using a very fine needle to create extremely fine and delicate hair-like strokes on the skin. The needle is smaller in diameter than the one used in microblading, allowing for greater precision and control. This precision enables the artist to create strokes that mimic the natural direction, thickness, and curve of eyebrow hairs, resulting in a more realistic and natural appearance.

          Customization

           : With

          nano strokes

, the artist can customize the shape, color, and thickness of each stroke to match the client's natural eyebrow hair. They can mimic the variation in color and thickness found in real brows, creating a more individualized and realistic look. This level of customization is often harder to achieve with microblading, where the strokes may appear more uniform.

          Feathered and Soft Look:

Nano strokes are known for creating a soft, feathered effect that resembles natural eyebrows. The fine strokes blend seamlessly with the existing brow hair, giving a more natural transition and avoiding the appearance of a "drawn-on" or solid block of color that can sometimes be associated with microblading.

          Longevity

: Nano strokes have the potential to last longer than microblading due to the technique's ability to deposit the pigment slightly deeper into the skin. This deeper placement allows the pigment to be more stable and less prone to fading, resulting in a longer-lasting effect. Microblading strokes, on the other hand, are usually placed shallower in the skin, which may cause them to fade more quickly over time.

          Reduced Trauma:

          Nano strokes

create smaller incisions in the skin compared to microblading. The minor wounds lead to less trauma and tend to heal faster, resulting in a shorter recovery time and a more natural-looking healed result. Additionally, the reduced trauma may minimize the risk of scarring and skin damage.

It's worth noting that the outcome of any cosmetic technique, including both nano strokes and microblading, depends on the skill and expertise of the artist performing the procedure. Finding a reputable and experienced artist is crucial for achieving the desired natural-looking results.

Treatment After Care

Here are our recommendations, they are based on the best outcomes that we’ve had all these years. All of them have equal importance. They are easier and more

          Post Treatment Care

Our recommendations, are based on the best outcomes that we’ve had all these years. All
of them have equal importance. They are easier and more relaxed than before, and no creams are
needed.

          IMMEDIATE POST TREATMENT:

30 minutes after the treatment, wipe the brows with the wet wipe provided or baby wipes hypoallergenic; remove all the lymph. Do it every 2 hours for 24 hours (only one day). At least 2 wiping overnight. This will reduce the scabbing built, less scabbing better pigment retention.

          NEXT 7 DAYS:

Avoid direct water contact in the treatment area, and keep the brows dry and fresh. Maintain facial hygiene.

Avoiding sweating or getting hot is very important, it will help to have crispy results. The oil present in the skin produces pigment smear or migration and this is irreversible.

The scabbing process starts around day 5. Allow it to occur naturally. Do not sleep over your brows. The color will be resurfacing in the coming days. Light results or despair hairs will be fixed during the touch-up.

          Other things to avoid:

All the creams on the forehead.

All make-up (foundation) on the forehead.

Workouts, sauna, facial massage, exposure to the sun, and steaming to avoid getting hot.

Minimize exposure to the Sun, and discourage swimming.

Properly cleanse around the treatment area.

Allow the scabbing process to occur naturally. Do not pick the scabs.

Do not sleep over your brows.

THINGS TO AVOID FOR THE NEXT 30 DAYS:

Sunbathing, Solarium, Light Therapies, Chemical Peelings, Fruit Acids, Microdermabrasions.

           Creams that contain regeneration factors.

Laser treatments over the treated area (Facial, Laser, IPL) because they can destroy the
pigments and cause burns.

Use of antibiotics and hormonal therapy can lead to faster pigment fading.

Always protect the eyebrows from the sun with SPFs (but not during the first 7 days).
